According to Finnish folktales, a snake is a symbol of good luck and a guardian of buildings and the people inside. References already from the Middle Ages state that a snake has been considered as a guardian of a building.

The artwork Guardians combines the hardness of concrete and softness of wood. The artwork was made of birch plywood and the form and expression refer to snake scales.

The artwork installed in the lobby is based on the ancient belief in the guardian snake.

The temporary artwork will be in place from March 2022 to May 2023.

The artwork is a part of the KampusART’s pedagogic programme.
