Noora Schroderus: PIQUE-NIQUE
Noora Schroderus: PIQUE-NIQUE
2020, stainless steel, acid-proof cast steel, paint
PIQUE-NIQUE is placed in the three skylight niches of the campus’ café area. The organic artwork, shaped like a mobile, is comprised of shapes bent of stainless steel. Details from exotic fruits and vegetables cast in acid-proof steel are combined with delicate elements. The artwork resembles a fruit tree, a cloud formation, or a spatial landscape, under which you can stop to eat, drink, and spend time.
Airiness, altitude variations, asymmetry and multiplication of form are repeated in the building’s architecture. The artwork repeats similar elements, but its shape is more organic. The visually interesting PIQUE-NIQUE lives along with the changing lighting conditions. It creates a luxurious atmosphere in its location and in a manner of speaking, encourages the viewer to pick the fruits of paradise.
