Introduction of the Artistic Committee: Terhi Marin
A five-member artistic committee is responsible for the artistic quality and content of the KampusART arts programme. Their task is to prepare the presentations of artworks for the new building and its surroundings to the steering group. In the coming weeks, we will present all the artistic committee members and their thoughts on the arts programme and public art.
Communication Director Terhi Marin started her career at Turku Technology Properties in 2011. According to Marin, the best part of her work is the freedom to come up with ideas and implement them. Freedom is a feature that she sees as a connecting factor between her own work and making art.
What do you expect of the KampusART arts programme?
I expect the project to bring interesting things to see and do in the Turku Science Park – something that draw visitors to the area and something that people want to photograph themselves with.
What public artwork has impressed you and why?
One of the first artworks that come to my mind is Spring(Pekka Jylhä, 2000), the monument of Urho Kekkonen, which is located next to Finlandia Hall. I like water as an element and I find the color and shape of the monument appealing. The pool reminds me of a forest pond, a place where people could go for a picnic.
