The artists of the KampusART Invitational Art Competition have been selected
Arts Academy is opening an invitational art competition, based on the open call for portfolios, to find ideas for a site-specific, permanent and public artwork produced on the yard deck of the new campus building in Kupittaa.
By the deadline, we received 74 portfolios, of which TUAS Arts Academy and Turku Technology Properties have invited Arja Kärkkäinen, Jukka Lehtinen, Anssi Pulkkinen & Taneli Rautiainen, Riikka Puronen and Anu Suhonen to participate in the invitational art competition. The jury includes Head of Education and Research Taina Erävaara (TUAS Arts Academy), Communications Director Terhi Marin (Turku Technology Properties) and visual artists Heini Aho, Veli Granö and Jaakko Niemelä.
-The number of portfolios was gratifying and the quality was high. I look forward to inspirational and insightful proposals for artworks as well as tight competition, says Taina Erävaara, chairperson of the artistic committee.
Surprising and bold artwork increases the pleasantness of the area and constructs its identity. The aim is that the artwork brings contrast to its surroundings, taking into account humanity and ecological aspects. The results of the competition will be determined by the end of the year. The invitational art competition has been supported by the Arts Promotion Centre Finland.
